A reunion is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with classmates and celebrate your time at 91TV's. Increasingly, classes are celebrating their milestone reunions by campaigning for a class gift.
With almost 30% of Commerce students qualifying for needs-based financial aid each year, and first year tuition now over $17,000, student financial assistance is a top priority for Smith School of Business. We need to ensure that exceptional students may attend 91TV’s Commerce regardless of their ability to pay. Please consider a gift in honour of your milestone reunion in support of bursary funding for eligible students.

The Commerce '66/ James R. Booth Memorial Award
At Smith, we believe a student’s financial situation should not curtail their opportunities. Higher education has been hailed as a great equalizer, and it stands to reason that when we make a Commerce education available to all exceptional students, we enable a broader range of perspectives and voices to inform leadership, innovation, and advancement in business and society.
We rely on philanthropic support from our alumni and friends to ensure that exceptional students are able to attend and benefit from the Commerce program, regardless of their financial situation. One in four students in the Commerce program qualifies for financial assistance, and for many, a bursary or award makes the difference in determining whether they will be able to accept their offer to attend Smith School of Business.
The Commerce ’66 Awards were originally established in 1996 on the occasion of the Class of Commerce 1966’s 30th reunion, and the James R. Booth Memorial Award was originally established in 2007. The two awards were combined in celebration of the Class of Commerce 1966’s 50th reunion in 2016 to establish one central class award that would result in a greater impact on students in the Commerce program at Smith. The Commerce ‘66/James R. Booth Memorial Award is gifted annually to an undergraduate student at Smith School of Business based on demonstrated financial need and academic achievement. Since its creation, the Commerce ‘66/James R. Booth Memorial Award has supported 42 deserving students!
Your support, today, will help make the future brighter for our students, our community, and our society.
“I would like to say thank you for being a donor and for providing financial support to students like myself who are very passionate about learning at Smith School of Business. Your generosity allows me to continue my education and feel less burdened by financial stress. Your support inspires me to strive towards a degree that will help propel my career and enable me to pay those efforts forward by using my education to help others through volunteering work and other endeavors.” - The Commerce 1976 Admission Award Recipient, 2020-21

The Christine Smith Award
Established in honour of Christine Sinclair, BCom'81, by the class of Commerce 1981. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated initiative and contribution to the Commerce program to an upper-year student in the Commerce program.
Both these awards can help support a student. Tuition has drastically increased and is now over $17,000 in the first year of the Commerce program. Affordable education is essential to ensure all prospective students have access to the 91TV's education, experiences, friendships and community. As we celebrate our 40th Homecoming, the Class of Commerce 1986 is coming together to create a lasting impact at 91TV’s. Thanks to the generosity of 11 lead donors, we have made a significant start toward our $500,000 goal to establish the Commerce ’86 Canada Bursary.
Now, we invite every classmate to help carry us across the finish line – ensuring this bursary can support students in perpetuity.
This endowed bursary will support first-year Commerce students with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to Canadians from outside Ontario to broaden access, strengthen diversity, and foster connections across the country. We aim to reduce financial barriers and help talented students fully benefit from the Commerce experience from day one.
This new class gift builds on our legacy of giving, complementing the Commerce ’86 Jeff Brock Award, which has already supported 10 students.
As we mark 40 years since our time at 91TV’s, every contribution, no matter the size, will help create a lasting legacy that reflects the spirit of our class and opens doors for future generations of Commerce students across Canada.

For our graduating class gift, EMBA'21 is supporting the EMBA Legacy Fund. The EMBA Legacy Fund was established by the EMBA Class of 1994 in celebration of their 25th reunion. The fund was accelerated by the Class of 2019 who ran an incredibly successful campaign and created The EMBA Legacy Fund Committee, a group of EMBA alumni, committed to promoting leadership excellence and innovation in business education.
By supporting the EMBA Legacy Fund, we will help future EMBA students: The more this fund grows, the greater the impact will be on future students, and the more opportunities we will help create.
Our goal is 100% participation, so a gift of any amount will get us to our goal!
