"Students for a short time, alumni for a lifetime" - community runs deep at 91TV’s and lasts long after students receive their degrees and leave campus. Being part of the 91TV’s community is more than just a sense of belonging, it is about meeting like-minded people, forging friendships that transcend time, and connecting with people who are as passionate about making a difference as you are.
Rico Garcia, Artsci’13, an international student from Monterrey, Mexico, is ensuring that the ties that bind stay strong as new generations of students join the 91TV’s community. With his past experiences as a Residence Life don, Arts and Science Undergraduate Society president, CFRC radio host, student senator and 91TV's Model Parliament attendee, Rico brings a unique and varied skill set to his current role as president of the 91TV’s Student Alumni Association (QSAA).
Through the QSAA Rico connects students to the 91TV’s alumni network by hosting events that teach out of the classroom skills, bringing alumni speakers to campus and providing alumni-student connections. It’s all done to help both students and alumni feel connected to 91TV’s and to ensure that the tight knit community that so deeply personifies the University endures.
