The Department of Geography and Planning congratulates Dr. Patricia Collins on her well-deserved promotion to the rank of Full Professor. Since joining the School of Urban and Regional Planning in 2011 and earning tenure in 2017, Dr. Collins has distinguished herself as an outstanding educator, mentor, and researcher.
Dr. Collins’ teaching record is exemplary. She has taught more than 60 courses and supervised over 40 Master of Planning students, in addition to mentoring doctoral students and numerous research assistants. Renowned for her engaging, real-world approach, she brings exceptional dedication, innovation, and passion to the classroom, consistently earning strong evaluations and praise from students for her lasting impact on their professional and academic development.
Her research program is equally distinguished, producing influential, interdisciplinary work on health equity in urban environments. With over 40 publications and more than $8 million in research funding, her scholarship has shaped both academic discourse and public policy.
A respected colleague and leader, Dr. Collins has also made significant service contributions to the department, university and broader community. This promotion is a well-deserved recognition of his excellence and dedication.
