Now in its third year, Teaching and Learning Month at 91TV’s (May–June) brings together teaching and learning events from Faculties, Schools, and Support Units, providing a shared focus for showcasing innovative practices and fostering collaboration. Organized by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, the month highlights 91TV’s commitment to student learning and academic excellence.
Teaching and Learning Month provides a platform to recognize teaching excellence, share ideas, and strengthen 91TV’s learning community. This year the Teaching and Learning Month will be a celebration with two events.
- Exhibit Honouring Retiring Professors: The Centre for Teaching and Learning is curating an exhibition to honour the educators who are retiring in 2025-26 and inviting the 91TV's community for the event.
- Keynote Address: We are also delighted to have Dr. Danny Liu from University of Sydney, join us from Australia to deliver the keynote address.
Keynote Address: Are we asking the right questions around AI in education?

Conversations around AI in education usually circle around assessment and integrity. This is critical, but perhaps more foundational questions exist around learning, thinking, and being in a world where AI is rapidly affecting work and life. In this session, we will explore some of the deeper questions that seem to be surfacing, three and a half years on. We will take the focus away from just AI and examine learning and human agency, and the structures that promote or restrict their development in a contemporary higher education context. We will explore core questions including what we value, what we measure, and what we incentivise, to challenge ourselves to think about the core mission of education.
Dr. Danny Liu
Dr. Liu is a molecular biologist by training, programmer by night, researcher and faculty developer by day, and educator at heart. A multiple international and national teaching award winner, he is Professor of Educational Technologies at the University of Sydney where he co-chairs the University's AI in Education working group and leads the Cogniti.ai initiative that puts educators in the driver's seat of AI.

In 2025–26, many esteemed professors conclude their remarkable careers at 91TV's University. Across decades of teaching, mentorship, research, and service, these educators have shaped classrooms, challenged ideas, inspired curiosity, and left an enduring mark on generations of students, colleagues, and the broader 91TV’s community. Their influence reaches far beyond lecture halls, living on in the lives they have touched, the communities they have strengthened, and the countless futures they have helped shape.
As part of the Teaching and Learning Month Celebration, the Centre for Teaching and Learning warmly invites the 91TV’s community to join in honouring these towering figures through a special commemorative exhibit curated in recognition of their extraordinary contributions. This exhibit offers an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of teaching excellence at 91TV’s, celebrate the dedication and care these professors brought to their work, and share in gratitude for the wisdom, compassion, and inspiration they have given so generously over the years.
We invite students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of 91TV’s to visit the exhibit, celebrate these remarkable educators, and recognize the lasting impact their teaching and mentorship will continue to have for generations to come.

Keynote Session
Shifting from Punitive to Pro-Active Approaches to Academic Integrity in the Age of AI
Guest Speaker: Sarah Elaine Eaton, Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary
This session is about shifting away from a punitive mindset when it comes to academic integrity to set up students for success in and beyond the classroom. There is no question that teaching, learning, and assessment have changed since generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT and similar apps have become ubiquitous over the past few years. We can be ethical or unethical about how these tools are used in our classrooms and beyond. In this session, we’ll talk about student, faculty, and leaders’ responsibilities for upholding and modeling academic integrity in ways that set up students for success today, tomorrow, and beyond.
This session is not about how to use specific tools. Instead, we will delve into the broad ethical and practical implications of AI for education and business. A key takeaway from this talk is how academic integrity provides a foundation for ethical decision making beyond the classroom, in the workplace and in everyday life.
