Dr. Denise Stockley completed her Doctorate in the Psychology of Education at Simon Fraser University and has built an extensive career advancing both classroom-based and online learning. Her work is grounded in the belief that learning is not one-size-fits-all, and that meaningful educational experiences emerge when we move beyond traditional approaches and embrace diverse ways of learning.

Dr. Stockley joined 91TV in 2001 and is currently the Director of the 91TV’s Institute for Educational Scholarship and Research (QIESR). She is a Professor and Scholar in Higher Education with the Office of the Provost (Teaching and Learning Portfolio) and the Faculty of Health Sciences. She also served as Past-President of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). Her work has been supported by the Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) and the Networks of Centres of Excellence. She contributes to national and international scholarship in higher education, with work spanning educational scholarship, research ethics, and health professions education.

Susan Docherty-Skippen, PhD, is an Educational Researcher and Consultant with the 91TV’s Institute for Education Scholarship and Research (QIESR) and an Assistant Professor in the Master of Health Professions Education program. Her work focuses on how research is shared, understood, and taken up in practice, with particular attention to assessing research impact beyond traditional metrics. She supports researchers, faculty, and students in designing, disseminating, and evaluating scholarly work. Her research examines how care, both for self and others, shapes teaching, learning, and professional identity in education. She contributes to national and international research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and brings extensive experience across clinical research, higher education, and applied policy contexts, including quality systems improvement. She also contributes to provincial and community-based governance boards and advisory groups.

QIESR Research Assistant and Student Partner Scholar

Megan Hirschfeld is completing her undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program at 91TV, where she is also a varsity athlete on the women's hockey team. She is a QIESR Research Assistant and Student Partner Scholar, contributing to educational scholarship projects focused on ethical principles in higher education and experiences with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) at 91TV’s. Her work includes supporting study design, research ethics applications, and survey development. Megan is particularly interested in teaching and learning, with a focus on student engagement, curriculum design, and accessibility, as well as how learning connects to future career pathways. She is committed to supporting QIESR’s mission and contributing to the development of the Student Scholar Partner program to strengthen meaningful student involvement in educational inquiry.

QIESR Strategy Nexus

The Strategy Nexus brings together a cross-institutional group of leaders to help shape and advance the work of QIESR. It serves as a connective and catalytic space where diverse perspectives inform strategic priorities, strengthen alignment with institutional and sector priorities, and support the growth of a coordinated, rigorous scholarly community, positioning educational scholarship to drive meaningful impact across disciplines and contexts.

Jenny Corlettt headshotJenny Corlett is Community Integration Liaison in the Office of the Vice-Principal (Culture, Equity, and Inclusion). She provides personalized, confidential support to new employees and their families as they settle into 91TV’s and the Kingston community. Understanding that every relocation experience is distinct, Jenny offers customized guidance to foster connection, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. Jenny collaborates with partners across the university and community to advance initiatives that promote employee engagement and contribute to the recruitment and retention of talented faculty and staff. 

Cathy Keates headshotCathy Keates is Assistant Dean, Student Affairs. She leads teams delivering innovative, student-centered programming and services. Her work emphasizes continuous improvement through program design and evaluation to ensure that supports remain responsive to evolving student needs. She has a strong track record of advancing initiatives recognized for excellence in career development, student engagement, and teaching and learning. Cathy brings leadership experience in experiential learning and is deeply committed to collaborative partnership that enhance the student experience. 

Klodiana Kolomitro headshotKlodiana Kolomitro is Senior Director, Research Infrastructure, Centre and Institutes. She provides strategic leadership to advance institutional research infrastructure and enhance the impact of research centres and institutes. She also continues to serve as Special Advisor to the Vice-Principal Research and the Principal, with a particular focus on undergraduate research. Klodiana brings extensive international experience in establishing SoTL-focused institutes, along with a strong record of scholarly contributions in this area.  

Ian Matheson headshotIan Matheson is an Associate Professor of Special Education and currently serves as Associate Dean with the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs. His research focuses on the emergence of self-advocacy among students with high-incidence “invisible” disabilities (e.g., ADHD), with particular attention to how these students navigate academic environments. More recently, he has extended this work into the scholarship of teaching and learning, deepening his engagement through mentorship, including guidance from Dr. Tom Russell, and through collaborative inquiry. 

Jodi Magee headshotJodi Magee is Executive Director, Institutional Research and Planning, in the Office of Planning and Budgeting. She leads a collaborative team of professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality data, thoughtful analysis, and trusted insights. Her work supports strategic planning and evidence-informed decision-making across the university, helping leaders navigate complex challenges with clarity and confidence. Jodi is passionate about making data accessible and meaningful, bridging technical expertise with institutional priorities to drive impact. She holds national leadership roles (Vice-Chair and Past-Chair) with the U15 Data Exchange contributing to advancements in data collaboration, quality, and access. 

Sarah Wickett headshotSarah Wickett is Head Health Sciences Librarian and co-instructor for HPE803: Scholarship in Health Professions Education. She connects librarianship and educational scholarship by supporting the discovery, evaluation, and dissemination of knowledge in health professions education. Sarah is passionate about fostering reflective practice and rigorous inquiry, helping educators and learners develop the skills needed for evidence-based teaching and research. Through a collaborative approach, she promotes a culture of continuous learning and innovation at the intersection of health sciences librarianship and education.
