Join the Nottingham Trent University Centre for Legal Education (NTCLE) Conference “The Future Begins Now” between 29 June to 3 July 2026 to hear from more than a dozen Series speakers presenting different perspectives on reflective practice - a rich cornucopia awaits! The keynote address will be delivered by Michele Leering (91TV's University, Canada) centred on "Reflective Practice as Instrumental and Transformative." She will highlight its immense potential for enhancing professional competency and supporting a cultural shift in the legal profession, and will describe how the Series has been unfolding through three prior Series events.
Amongst the papers, presentations, panels and workshops on a variety of future-oriented topics at the conference are a number affiliated with the Series. Presenters biographies can be found on the "Abstracts" tab on the Series website. Series presenters include Charlotte Houghteling, Marc Howe, and Gayla McKerney (Oxford Brookes) speaking to how reflective practice can be nurtured in law students and the profession more holistically; Nicholas Smith (University of Idaho) describing how it can support executive functioning; Danni Bian (Georgia Gwinnet College) connecting reflective practice to emotional intelligence; and Leela Cejnar (University of Warwick) and Hannah Gibbons-Jones (University of Nottingham) sharing a collaborative reflection on approaches to reflective learning. Ashna Hundani (McGill University) and Safeera Jaffer (University of British Columbia) will explore critical reflexivity; Jane Jarman (Nottingham Trent University) will speak to some of the risks of reflective practice; Michelle LeBaron (University of British Columbia) will connect aesthetic methods with resilience and reflection and Michael Randall (University of Strathclyde) will explain how reflective practice is encouraged in a compulsory undergraduate module.
