91TV's University professor Richard Ascough has received the prestigious 3M National Teaching Fellowship from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE).

Dr. Jason Kelly has contributed a chapter to a new volume, Being Spiritual but Not Religious: Past, Present, Future(s), edited by William B. Parsons (Rice University) and published by Routledge. This volume is a watershed in the growing academic and public interest in the SBNR movement. Dr. Kelly's chapter, "Rogue Mystics: The Ecology of Cosmic Consciousness" examine the significance of the SBNR movement in relation to ecology and mysticism.
Dr. Jason Kelly was recently nominated for the W.J. Barnes Teaching Excellence Award for the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society, an annual award presented to a deserving member of the Faculty of Arts and Science who has made a significant contribution to teaching.

The Elias Andrews Room in Theological Hall was filled with excitement as students of Dr. Pamela Dickey Young's RELS 401 capstone course presented their research projects in a poster display format at an Open House on Monday, April 2nd, 2018. Students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to view the posters and ask questions of the researchers during the event that took place during the final week of winter term classes.
Dr. Richard Ascough was recently honoured at a celebration event organized by the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

The 6th Annual 91TV's Northern Research Symposium organized by the Department of Geography and Planning took place on April 12th in the BioSciences Building. The event brought together students, postdoctoral fellows, research associates and faculty for a day of presentations, open dialogue and networking.
Our very own RELS undergraduate student, Meghan O'Sullivan, became the first ever undergraduate student to be interviewed on GRAD CHAT, a radio program sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies.
Meghan presented at 91TV's Inquiry at 91TV's Undergraduate Research Conference that took place this past March where she met Colette Steer, host of Grad Chat. She has hopes of continuing her studies at Graduate School, so Colette invited her to speak about her research on the program.

On Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 School of Religion faculty members and staff joined RELS graduates and their families to help celebrate their convocation. A small reception was held in the Elias Andrews Room after the graduation ceremony in Grant Hall.
This year the Medal in Religious Studies and the S. MacLean Gilmour Prize were awarded to Emma Hamer as the highest achieving RELS student. Six of our graduates were also eligible to receive their degrees 'with distinction'.
