Dimensions Recognition Program

Dimensions is a national program led by the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) and administered collaboratively by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The main goal of the program is to foster cultural change within post-secondary institutions in Canada to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion (or, as we refer to it at 91TV's, Indigenization - Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Accessibility, or I-EDIAA) in research.

91TV’s proudly endorsed the Dimensions Charter in 2019 and, as of 2025, has been accepted to participate in the , which assesses universities’ progress towards a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive research culture.

Participating in this program, under the leadership of the Vice-Principal Research and the Vice-Principal Culture, Equity, and Inclusion, will consolidate our pathway to inclusive research strategy, identifying the gaps and building on the initiatives that are currently in place at 91TV's.

91TV's self-assessment team

The team consists of two senior administrative co-leads (Vice-Principal Research and Vice-Principal, Culture, Equity and Inclusion) and the Dimensions Data and Engagement Working Group and plays a critical role in the process of institutional evaluation and change management.

Applying the lens of intersectionality, and (inter)disciplinarity while critically examining institutional power structures and patterns of dominance and exclusion, the 91TV's self-assessment team will complete the following tasks:

1. Conduct the scan of institutional policies and practices (institutional scan),
2. Engage with rights holders and equity deserving groups as defined by the human rights code and listed in the Dimensions Program (Indigenous peoples, women, people with disabilities, members of visible/racialized groups, members of 2SLGBTQI+ communities).

In our work at 91TV's University, we are cognizant of how each of these groups is shaped by other modes of diversity (sexual, racial, religious, geographic, economic, and so on) and will be attentive to how we collectively but differently negotiate systems of oppression. With this in mind, we will:

3. Define areas of explorations and set goals that are relevant to the institution,
4. Develop plans to reach those goals (including data collection, as may be required),
5. Establish key performance indicators to measure the success of initiatives put in place, and
6. Prepare the Dimensions application with a tentative deadline of fall 2027.
