Felix is a third-year undergraduate in Mathematical Physics with a summer studentship. He is working on the automation of kinematic mirror mounts to improve laser alignment. Outside of the lab, he enjoys tabletop games, hiking, and skiing.

The group is extremely proud to share that Ivanna and Andrew have received awards this year! 

Ivanna has been awarded the 2026-27 Herman K. Walter Graduate Award, and Andrew has been awarded the 91TV Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) for 2026-27 and G.E. Ted Courtnage Graduate Award in Engineering for 2026-27. 

These awards are well deserved, keep up the good work!

They had the change to present their work at the poster presentation to other students around Canada. It was an awesome day to talk about science!

Mehdi is a researcher working on the development of scalable telecom-wavelength quantum photonic platforms based on coupled semiconductor quantum dots integrated into nanophotonic waveguides. Leveraging his expertise in ultra-low-noise cryogenic instrumentation and quantum measurements, he aims to establish the first multi-emitter telecom quantum photonic architecture with independent electrical control and coherent light-matter interactions. His long-term goal is to enable scalable quantum communication, information processing, and neuromorphic photonic technologies compatible with existing telecommunication infrastructure. Mehdi is highly motivated and passionate about advancing quantum technologies through the integration of precision electronics, nanophotonics, and quantum optics.

Entering his 4th year of Engineering Physics, Computing option, Ryan is an undergraduate researcher in the accelerated master’s program, researching superconducting nanowire single photon detectors, and applications for photon number resolution. Ryan is fascinated by all things physics, and outside of the lab, enjoys playing hockey, going to the gym, and spending time with friends.
